The built-in entertainment center with an integral 4 by 10
Douglas fir beam as the mantel over the fireplace on the left
was also nestled under the ships-like stairs on the right. The
audio receiver and CD player are fitted onto a shelf on the right
with a cavernous CD-storage drawer below. At the floor level is
the concealed acoustical-mass speaker behind and to the right
of the doors. Not seen on the right is a triangular raised-panel
with a round hole positioned to allow the sound to come out. The
TV cabinet has retractable doors. Every available inch was utilized
to hold something; form following function.
